LECTURE AND SPEAKER INFORMATION
Advancing Your Clear Aligner Confidence and Finishes
Presented by Mazyar Moshiri DMD, MS, FICD
Upon completion of this program, participants should be able to:
- Develop a deeper understanding of clear aligner biomechanics and how they influence treatment planning, predictability, and case selection.
- Improve digital treatment planning and staging strategies to better control tooth movements and increase treatment efficiency.
- Implement practical finishing and refinement protocols that lead to more consistent, high-quality outcomes in clear aligner cases.
About the speaker:
![]() | Dr. Mazyar Moshiri received his B.S. degree in Neurobehavioral Biology from Emory University. He then moved on to the University of Louisville to obtain his Doctorate, Masters in Oral Biology, and Certificate of Advanced Training in Orthodontics. In no time, Dr. Maz attained Diplomate status with the American Board of Orthodontics and became a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists, and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Currently, he is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the orthodontic residency program at the Center for Advanced Dental Education at Saint Louis University. |
Optimizing Clear Aligner Therapy: Evidence-Based Insights into the Role of Attachments
Presented by Dr. Hakan Turkkahraman, DDS, PhD
Upon completion of this lecture, participants should be able to:
- Describe the role of attachments in improving the biomechanics and predictability of clear aligner therapy.
- Compare different attachment designs and configurations for controlling complex tooth movements with clear aligners.
- Apply evidence-based principles for selecting and positioning attachments in clear aligner treatment planning.
About the speaker:
![]() | Dr. Hakan Turkkahraman is a full-time, Associate Professor within the Indiana University School of Dentistry (IUSD), Department of Orthodontics and Oral Facial Genetics and currently serves as the director of the Orthodontic Research Program and Orthodontic Fellowship Program. Dr. Turkkahraman received his bachelor (DDS, BS) and Master of Science (MS) degrees from Hacettepe University, School of Dentistry. He attained his PhD and orthodontic specialist degree from Ankara University, School of Dentistry. |
Plastic & Physics: Expansion and Distalization During the Mixed Dentition. How Predictable Are Treatment Responses?
Presented by Dr. Lee Boyd, DMD
Upon completion of this lecture, participants should be able to:
- Evaluate and demonstrate aligner force systems for controlled arch development and expansion in the mixed dentition.
- Discuss and demonstrate consistent class 2 molar correction in the mixed dentition with clear aligners using distalization forces.
- Apply design protocols to achieve predictable outcomes with mixed dentition clear aligners.
About the speaker:
![]() | Dr. Lee Boyd is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He is also a member of the ABPD College of Diplomates. Dr. Boyd attended the University of Kentucky for his undergraduate work and his dental degree. After dental school, he completed two years of additional training in pediatric dentistry at Louisiana State University. |
Profitable, Predictable, On-Time. Establishing a Successful, Efficient Aligner Practice, A practicing orthodontist's perspective - Invisalign, Spark, uLab, Angel Aligner
Presented by Mahya Farnia, DDS, MSD
Upon completion of this lecture, participants should be able to:
- Select aligner cases and address complex aligner cases effectively while maintaining the proper protocol for an interdisciplinary approach
- Take appropriate steps in staging framework that minimizes refinements and treatment time and maximizes profitability
- Implement a clear, repeatable in-office aligner workflow for either in house or lab sent cases
About the speaker:
![]() | Dr. Mahya Farnia received her undergraduate degree in her hometown of Irvine, at the prestigious University of California, Irvine. She attended dental school in Nevada attended the University of Indiana for her orthodontic residency where she received specialty training. |

ABOUT THE BURSTONE SYMPOSIUM
![]() | Dr. Charles J. Burstone is known and appreciated internationally for his understanding and teaching of biomechanics in orthodontics. Dr. Burstone received his MS in Orthodontics at Indiana University School of Dentistry and was appointed Chairman in 1961. Although contributing in so many areas of orthodontics, his special emphasis was on biomechanics. He later accepted the position as Head of the Orthodontic Department at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Connecticut and Chief of Orthodontic Services, John Dempsey Hospital. The University of Connecticut awarded him Professor Emeritus in 1994 and an Honorary Doctorate in 2011. Dr. Burstone dedicated his life to orthodontic education. His very generous donation establishing the Dr. Charles J. Burstone Orthodontics Biomechanics Initiative Fund has made this program possible. |
