Background

Dr. James J. Baldwin is currently appointed part-time Professor on the Graduate Faculty at Indiana University School of Dentistry, Indianapolis, IN.  He also holds a part-time appointment at the University of Illinois School of Dentistry Chicago, IL.

  

In addition to his teaching and clinical activities, Dr. Baldwin serves as a referee for the American Journal Orthodontic and Dental Orthopedics and the Angle Orthodontist Journal.  He has received many prestigious awards over the years starting while at DePauw where he was elected Phi Beta Kappa.  Most recently he has been awarded Life Membership in Omicron Kappa Upsilon and selected Honor Dentist of the Indianapolis District Dental Society.   In May of 2000, at the American Association of Orthodontists, the International Orthodontic Congress and the World Federation of Orthodontists meeting in Chicago, IL, Dr. Baldwin was presented with the Louise Ada Jarabak Research Award.  Dr. Baldwin is a recipient of the Dale B. Wade Award for Excellence in Orthodontics, presented by the American Board of Orthodontics at the AAO Meeting in 2006.

  

Recent publications and textbook chapters include Pre-Prosthetic Alignment of a Compensated Class in Malocclusion in a Partially Edentulous Adult, Case Studies in Orthodontics 2000; Adjunctive Orthodontic Therapy: Biological, Mechanical and Treatment Considerations,Textbook of Orthodontics SE Bishara 2001; and Corrections of Partially Edentulous Malocclusions:  Facial Esthetics and Vertical Dimension of Occlusion, Frontiers of Dental Oral Facial Esthetics. JA McNamara, 2001.

  

Dr. Baldwin is a member of the American Dental Association, Indiana Dental Association, Indianapolis District Dental Society, American Association of Orthodontists, Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists, Indiana Association of Orthodontists, Edward H. Angle Society (Midwest Component) and the American Board of Orthodontics.
