Dental Faculty Practice (DFP)
The Dental Faculty Practice extends an invitation to patients desiring to receive quality oral health care in a conveniently located private-practice setting.
The Dental Faculty Practice consists of Full-Time Faculty Members who teach and work at the Indiana University School of Dentistry. It is a general dentistry and multi-specialty office that is conveniently located downtown in Indianapolis at the Indiana University School of Dentistry.
Who is eligible to be a DFP patient?
Anyone with an interest in being cared for as a private practice patient by an IU faculty member is welcome. Persons of all ages are seen in our facility, which is fully equipped, contemporary, and designed to enhance patient privacy. IUPUI students and employees find DFP an especially convenient place to receive oral health care---they bring their families too! Since the dental school is just a few blocks from Monument Circle, the DFP facility is easily accessible to downtown residents and office workers. But our patients also come to us from throughout the city and from many other communities in central Indiana and the Midwest.
Is being a DFP patient different from being a dental school patient?
Yes. In the dental school's other clinics, patients are cared for by supervised students who are in training to become dentists or other types of dental professionals. DFP group members are licensed dentists who hold full-time positions on the IU faculty, and they conduct their individual practices in a manner similar to other private practices in the community.
How do I become a DFP patient?
For an appointment or for further information about becoming a patient in the DFP facility, phone (317) 274-5628. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8 AM until 5 PM. Patients are seen by appointment only. NO REFERRAL IS NECESSARY.
What are the fees for DFP services?
Fees are consistent with community standards for private practice patients, and payment is expected on the day of service. Services can be paid for by cash, personal check, Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover. We will file claims for reimbursement to patients who have dental insurance.
How do I find the DFP Clinic?
