Emergency Dental Care


The Dental Clinic in Regenstrief Health Center will close effective December 6, 2013.    After December 6th:

      • Active oral surgery patients who require follow- up care should call 274-8300 to schedule follow-up care.
      • General Dental care (e.g. fillings, cleanings and dentures) will be provided by the IU School of Dentistry at Cottage Corner (655-3204) and Grassy Creek (890-2131) Clinics.  Routine or simple non-emergency extractions will also be provided in these clinics on a very limited basis.  Payment schedules will remain unchanged, including Medicaid and Advantage plans.  Complicated extractions and wisdom teeth will be referred to the Indiana University School of Dentistry at its 1121 West Michigan Street location. (see Wishard Advantage statement below).
      • Beginning December 10, 2013, Emergency Dental Care including Oral and Maxillofacial surgery (e.g. extractions, removal of wisdom teeth, pathology) will be provided by the Indiana University School of Dentistry at its 1121 West Michigan Street location.
      • Wishard Advantage will not be accepted at the Michigan Street address for any dental care.  Medicaid and other insurances will be accepted.  Uninsured patients will be responsible for all charges.
      • A payment of $175 will be required prior to seeing the doctor in the Emergency dental clinic.  The $175 fee will cover the initial exam, radiograph and first simple extraction (A simple extraction does not include surgical extractions, impactions, wisdom teeth).  The patient will be billed for the remaining charges.
      • The Emergency Clinic at 1121 West Michigan Street at the Indiana University School of Dentistry will be a phone-in clinic.  Hours will be posted on the door and website (http://www.iusd.iupui.edu/patient-services/emergency-dentalcare), as well as by calling (274-7433).  Individuals should call ahead, if possible, to ensure that appointment times are available.

Emergencies (Children).  Appointed and walk-in patients are treated for emergencies in the pediatric dentistry clinic during regular clinic hours.  To seek emergency treatment for a child when the clinic is closed, call the Medical Center operator and ask for the pediatric dentistry resident on call (317.274.5000).
