Emergency Dental Care

IUSD Emergency Clinic

Serving the needs of the Indianapolis community and beyond, the Indiana University School of Dentistry has a pre-doctoral walk-in Emergency Dental Clinic that sees patients on a first-come, first- served basis for individuals experiencing acute pain, swelling, or urgent dental needs.

(Attention current IUSD patients of record - in order to avoid additional fees & interruptions to existing treatment plans, if you are in need of urgent dental care, call your assigned student dentist, faculty practice location or specialty dental clinic, in order to speed up and maintain continuity of care.)

An initial payment of $99 is required, which will be applied to the emergency diagnostic exam, imaging and some procedures that may provide temporary relief of dental pain.  However, there may be additional fees for definitive care or tooth extraction, which will vary depending on tooth location and the difficulty of the procedure.  Regardless of treatment provided, the patient is responsible to pay the $99 intial fee at the time of check-in.

This clinic accepts multiple insurances and eligibility will be verified at the time of service.  The following are currently accepted:  Medicaid, HIP, Cigna (In Network), Delta (In Network),  MOST other insurance plans with out-of-network coverage.  However, Advantage does NOT cover treatment received at this clinic.
